Product Description
The GTI badge is the reason the "hot hatch" exists as a category at all, tracing back to the original Mk1 Golf GTI, and the MK8 carries that torch on Volkswagen's long-running EA888 2.0-liter turbo four. This is an engine platform that has anchored VW Group performance four-cylinders since the mid-2000s, evolving through generation after generation to reach the current "evo4" architecture found in the GTI, Golf R, and their Audi and Cupra cousins. In the GTI, Volkswagen calibrates the EA888 to deliver exactly what the nameplate has always promised: the sharpest, most complete expression of Golf performance, built to be a proper hot hatch through and through.
Weistec's ECU tune for the MK8 GTI is a software recalibration of that factory EA888. It's built to extract more from the turbo, fueling, and ignition mapping Volkswagen already engineered into the platform, developed and validated to an OEM level of rigor rather than a basic piggyback tune, with factory knock protection, thermal management, and diagnostics left untouched. On the GTI, that work is good for an additional 97 horsepower and 80 lb-ft over stock, real proof that one of VW Group's most tunable engines had plenty more to give.

Complete The Upgrade
An ECU tune alone won't remove all factory limits or fix how power reaches the ground. Add these to round out the upgrade with no limitations.

What is a CPC module?
The CPC (Central Powertrain Control) is a separate control unit that manages things like the active exhaust valves, radiator fan, intercooler pumps, and speed limiter. On many newer Mercedes-Benz vehicles, it also houses torque limiters that can hold back an ECU tune from reaching its full potential.
What is a TCU tune?
A TCU (transmission control unit) tune delivers faster, firmer shifts with higher line pressure, reducing clutch slip and increasing the transmission's torque capacity. It's a worthwhile upgrade on its own, or paired with an ECU tune for a fully sorted powertrain.
Good to Know
- This is a reflash of your original module, not a stand-alone unit.
- Power gains vary by vehicle, modifications, fuel, and operating conditions (ambient temperature, altitude, etc.).
- New or upgraded spark plugs are always recommended when tuning.
- Product may not be emissions compliant. Check local laws prior to installation.
- Always use a battery charger during programming.
