Product Description
The B38 is the engine that makes the modern MINI Cooper feel like a MINI: a punchy turbocharged three-cylinder paired with that famously tight, go-kart chassis. Don't let the cylinder count fool you, this is a serious piece of engineering, all-alloy construction, Valvetronic, direct injection, and dual-VANOS, part of the same modern turbocharged architecture BMW also builds in larger form for its own lineup. Its single-scroll turbo, co-developed with Bosch-Mahle, was tuned specifically to match the MINI's light weight and quick reflexes, not just bolted on for output.
Weistec's calibration is built to match that same level of engineering care. It's a software recalibration only, developed to the same OEM-level validation rigor as MINI's own factory calibration, working with the B38's existing turbo and fueling hardware to sharpen response, with every factory protection system left fully intact. On an otherwise stock car, that's roughly 31 additional horsepower and 38 lb-ft of torque, and on a car this light and this agile, it transforms the whole driving experience.
How Do You Get Your MINI B38 / B36 1.5L ECU Tune Tuned?
Follow these steps — this is what your specific vehicle needs and supports.
Unlock Check
Modern ECUs are often locked down, especially after a dealer software update, which can block bench flashing or OBD flashing. Our ECU Unlock Service removes those restrictions, is done per ECU, and stays active through most future dealer updates as long as the bootloader isn't overwritten.

Complete The Upgrade
An ECU tune alone won't remove all factory limits or fix how power reaches the ground. Add these to round out the upgrade with no limitations.

What is a CPC module?
The CPC (Central Powertrain Control) is a separate control unit that manages things like the active exhaust valves, radiator fan, intercooler pumps, and speed limiter. On many newer Mercedes-Benz vehicles, it also houses torque limiters that can hold back an ECU tune from reaching its full potential.
What is a TCU tune?
A TCU (transmission control unit) tune delivers faster, firmer shifts with higher line pressure, reducing clutch slip and increasing the transmission's torque capacity. It's a worthwhile upgrade on its own, or paired with an ECU tune for a fully sorted powertrain.
Good to Know
- This is a reflash of your original module, not a stand-alone unit.
- Power gains vary by vehicle, modifications, fuel, and operating conditions (ambient temperature, altitude, etc.).
- New or upgraded spark plugs are always recommended when tuning.
- Product may not be emissions compliant. Check local laws prior to installation.
- Always use a battery charger during programming.
