Weistec Engineering is proud to announce an affordable MG1 ECU Unlock Service, providing enthusiasts and performance builders with full access to modern 2020+ Bosch MG1 engine control units that were previously locked from the factory or restricted by dealer software updates.

Modern ECUs are more secure than ever, especially after dealer service updates that restrict tuning access. The MG1 ECU unlock service removes those limitations, restoring the ability to tune your vehicle properly and safely.
Whether your ECU is:
- Locked from the factory
- Locked after a dealer software update
- Previously un-tunable over OBD
It can now be unlocked.
Tune Over OBD or via Bench Flash
Once unlocked, your ECU can be:
- Flashed over OBD (in most cases)
- Bench-flashed when required
The process restores full access to the ECU without permanently tying it to a specific flashing device, giving you flexibility while maintaining reliability with Weistec's proven tuning solutions.
How the ECU Unlock Process Works
- Purchase the ECU Unlock Service for each ECU on your vehicle
- Remove the ECU(s) from your vehicle
- Ship the ECU(s) to the address provided after purchase (please include a copy of your receipt in the box)
- We unlock your ECU(s) and ship them back
- Reinstall the ECU(s) and enjoy full tuning access

Some ECU software versions may not be compatible with the unlock process. If your ECU is not compatible, you will be informed immediately.
Dealer-Update-Resistant Unlocking
A common concern is what happens if your vehicle receives another dealer update after unlocking.
Good news:
You do not need to get the ECU unlocked again for most instances of dealer updates.
As long as the update does not overwrite the bootloader, your unlock remains active and can be serviced at any Cypher Pro Dealer if needed.*
It is still strongly recommended that you specifically tell dealers not to perform any software updates on tuned vehicles, should you be taking the vehicle to the dealer for normal service.
*Cypher Pro Dealers may charge a labor fee at their discretion.
Tool-Friendly, Not Tool-Tied
Our unlock service does not permanently marry your ECU to a single device. That said, it is currently validated and supported only with Weistec tuning solutions and flashing tools to ensure maximum compatibility, safety, and performance.
We do not guarantee compatibility when using this unlock with non-Weistec tuning platforms.
